Things I never do, volumes 5 and 6

Damn internets. I actually used the word 'failboat' in a meeting, today at work. ...which was out of character, but not at all out of context. This has been the most stressful week at work I've had in a long time - tight deadlines, lots of new systems having to face live fire for the first time, and some very nice people at each other's throats. Sorry to say I'm one of them. A visit from the punch-in-the-face fairy wouldn't be totally surprising. But I was surprised to catch myself describing one of those systems as 'about to set fail.' I guess I've gone native.

I also went out to UNLV tonight, for a brief, free workshop for beginning Lindy-Hop enthusiasts. It was good fun, but it was humbling! My typical definition of 'dancing' involves stomping/moving, roughly in time to a very simple beat, usually with no interaction with other people, beyond trying not to step on them. Actually learning established steps is cool. Having to lead someone else in a coordinated way is a challenge. But I think I've kinda got a taste for it, now, so I may be at it for a while. If anybody wants to join me for other cheap/free swing dance instructional events anytime soon, drop me a line. (And to the obvious question, the obvious answer: trying to impress a girl. Duh.)
