San Francisco!

Audra and I spent last weekend on a whirlwind tour of San Francisco. We hoteled up in a stupendously mod little place called the Crescent Hotel, just up the hill from the Powell/Market St. BART station, and took in everything we could in the space of a 3-day weekend. Here's a few photos:

Next stop: neighborhood of make-believe!

This was one of the many scenic views on the walk from our hotel down to the wharf. Pretty town.

We got to ride trains around, too! I like trains - After so many years in the Southwest, I was really impressed with what a functioning public transit system SF has. Even if they have to put up warnings against doing plainly unwise things. Witness:

My baby's so fine, she eats cantaloupe with chopsticks.

Pier 39: fulla sea lions!

There's an awesome mirror maze set up in one of the storefronts on the wharf. Here's the two of us, traversing the imaginarium...

Aquarium: fulla jellyfish!

Both kinds.

The museum of modern art would be gorgeous, even without all the awesome pictures in it. Great museum - maybe my favorite tourist spot on the trip.

Off one of the glassed-in walkways in the upper floors of the museum, there's a spot across the street where somebody has hidden this cutout of Waldo. Audra found him. I thought it was an awesome way to shoehorn some cozy, low-brow conceptual art into the whole experience.

Lots of walking, lots of Doing Stuff and lots of fun people. We had good thai food with a bunch of Dreamwidth users one night, which was a blast. My last night in town, we also got to hang out with Mark and Janine, who are awesome people with awesome dogs. I would have taken pictures, but due to a difficulty in translation, they came under the impression that my camera would actually capture their souls.

Awesome trip! Much thanks to all the fun people we got to catch up with. I'd love to make a habit out of visiting SF.
Later,
Charlie
